Willingness of the heart

When I was a younger Christian a few years back. I remembered my cell group leader first asking me to help with something in the cell group. Till this date , I cannot remember what it was but I did remember her telling me this.

" God never uses the vessels of silver and gold, but he uses the willing vessels "

Being new, I couldn't fully comprehend what it means. I just thought hey, if my cgl says it, it should be something wise.

As I grew to be more knowledgeable, I slowly understood a little of what she meant. That God would only use people who are obedient, and who are willing to do things for no benefit to themselves.

At that time I was still young in God, and I remembered asking myself. Is this just a trick, to get me to work for free? To get me to listen "blindly" to whatever my cell group leader said? As you could see, I wasnt what you would call a good little Christian.

I was someone who reasoned. And someone who was unwilling to do something, for nothing. Everything must have some form of benefit to me. That's the man I was, that's the way I live. I thought to myself.

Of course, along the way as God molded me, I started to change my mindset and truly began to grow up. I realised that Willingness had more to do with benefiting myself, then anyone else.


But first, what is willingness?

It is an attitude of the heart, an attitude that is ready to give rather then receive. An attitude that is ready to listen and obey what God speaks into your life. Maybe through the Holy Spirit or through the leaders God has placed in your life. ( Ps : This means Listen to your CGL ) It also means doing something, and Loving it rather then complaining and grumbling and feeling unhappy.

Having willingness unleashes

1. You expand your capacity

Often people are unwilling to do stuff because it is difficult, it requires some form to improvement or practice and that takes effort. But when you allow yourself to be truly willing and start to do what God has called you to do, God will expand your skills, talents and capacity. Through the fire, you become stronger and purer, like Gold.

2. You develope thankfullness

Each time I have to sacrifice for God, I will constantly remind myself of God's goodness in my life. How He has blessed me and my family. This is what spurs me to go on and it in turns helps me remember the goodness of God. Indeed like what the bible says, it is with thanksgiving that you enter through the gates of heaven! So when you are willing, you allow thankfulness into your heart.

3. You mould your character

Character is only molded when someone molds you. If God chooses to place his hands and starts to mold you from clay into a vase, you can either choose to be rock hard. Refusing to change, or soft and malleable, willing to become the person that God has prepared you to be!

4. You grow closer to God

And this is simply the one reason why I choose to be a willing person. Because I get to experience more of Him in my life.

This is my first time posting here yeah.

Thank you everyone for celebrating my birthday with me.

To be frank, i don't really like to celebrate my birthday cause the past two years, nothing good will happen during my birthday so i wanted not to do anything and let it pass just like any other usual day.

But this year, i really enjoyed it with you guys. I just... man this is hard to say... i really appreciate and thank you for everything you all did.

Knowing you all are one of my best part of my life. I love you all and i really do.
